Big Turtle Lake is a 1436-acre lake with a maximum depth of 45 feet. The lake is located seven miles north of Bemidji in south central Beltrami County. Big Turtle is connected to several other lakes commonly referred to as the Turtle River chain. Anglers can navigate from Big Turtle Lake into Little Turtle and Movil Lakes, and there is a DNR public access on the west side of Big Turtle off of county road 15 that provides boat access to all three basins.
